Classic Satay San Choi Bao

1 kg beef mince

1 brown onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

½ iceberg lettuce leaves

½ cos lettuce leaves

250 ml coconut cream

2 star anise

1 tbsp five spice

120 ml black bean sauce

3 tbsp peanut butter

1 tsp chilli powder


Extra virgin olive oil

Vegetable oil


In a deep pan with a good splash of oil, fry off the beef mince. Tumble in the onion, garlic and sprinkle in the spices. Pour in the black bean sauce and 3 cups water. Stir through the peanut butter and coconut cream.

Shallow-fry the mini tortillas until crispy.

Spoon the satay mince mixture into the variety of lettuce leaves and tortillas.
